At the core of everything we do is the desire to be a church family that lives and loves like Jesus.

This is our heart

Northbrook Church is a family on a mission; a family committed to building relationships that lead people to Christ and his church.
We desire to be a part of a relational discipling movement through gathering in large and small groups, growing in our love for God and serving others, and going near and far with the good news of Christ’s love.

Our Mission Statement

Northbrook Church is dedicated to building relationships that lead people to Christ and His church.

Our Core Values

Effective Evangelism - All people matter to God, and to us.

Transformational Teaching - The Bible is absolutely true and relevant for life today.

Joyful Service - Fulfillment is found in serving others through the body of Christ.

Deep Community - Authentic spiritual growth & meeting needs happens best in small groups.

Authentic Worship
- Creativity and excellence in everything we do brings honor to God.

World Missions - God’s glory is seen in spreading the gospel throughout the world

Our Covenant Membership Commitment

Northbrook Church members willingly participate in annual covenant membership. We actively agree to these biblical principles and renew our commitment each January.

1. We shall live our lives according to biblical standards, beginning with the obligation to love God and neighbor, and thus serve as examples of Christ in the world.

2. We shall participate in the ministries of the church by a characteristic pattern of:

a. seeking spiritual growth through regular attendance in corporate worship and small groups (Heb. 10:23-25; Acts 2:42; Rom. 12:10-13);
b. praying regularly for Northbrook’s ministry, leadership, membership, and the unconvinced (Phil 4:6; 1 Tim. 2:1-2,8; Rom. 10:1);
c. financially supporting the vision and ministries of Northbrook Church through consistent and sacrificial giving (Rom. 12:13; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; 2Cor. 9:7);
d. serving with their gifts in a ministry area (1 Cor. 12:4-11; Rom. 12:6-8; Eph. 4:11-12).

3. We shall support the leadership and the ministry vision and act to promote unity in the body.
4. We shall agree to the church's doctrinal statement and Northbrook constitution and by-laws.
5. We agree to remain accountable to God and the Northbrook family for their fidelity to these membership commitments once they have been freely promised, within the context of a faith community emphasizing grace and restoration rather than legalism and exclusion.

ADAM joined the Northbrook family in 2020 as the Lead Pastor. He and his wife, Leslie, married in 2004 and have five kids: Karis, Eli, Luke, Silas, and Zoe. While attending Union University in the early 2000s, Adam began his ministry as a student ministry intern here at Northbrook. Since then he completed his M.Div and Ph.D degrees preparing for ministry and has worked in several churches. His passion is for preaching the Gospel in a way that connects real people to real life-change. He is down-to-earth and ready for some good coffee and conversation anytime. Adam is an avid outdoorsman, pretty handy around a car engine, and at heart a family man. Come by and introduce yourself, his office door is always open.

Cindy Stookey

CINDY began teaching Vacation Bible School as a teenager under the instruction of her grandmother. It was then that God developed in her a desire to serve Him through children. She graduated from Union University in 1993 with a BA degree in Social Work and a minor in Religion. As a founding member of Northbrook, she has been actively involved in the children's ministry from the very beginning. She was brought on our paid staff in 2004. Cindy has two daughters, two son-in-laws, a son, and three grandchildren. Courtney and Robert Lynn have Judah and Samia, Natalie and Nehemiah Guinn have Jane, and Luke is studying engineering at UT Chattanooga. Cindy loves hosting creative events for kids and women's small group Bible studies. She also loves cooking and chocolate.

Betsey Browand

Betsey is the first voice you will hear when calling into the church office. With a background in nursing and a current homemaker and homeschool mom, Betsey is great with organization and wearing whatever hat is needed in the moment. Betsey was hired in June of 2022 and works on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Betsey's favorite things are Jesus, spending time with family and friends, coffee, and chocolate!

Youth Minister

Nehemiah and his wife Natalie previously served as youth interns at Northbrook, and Nehemiah came on staff as the Youth Minister in the Fall of 2022. If you ask him about the story of Lazarus, he won't stop talking, so be warned. He loves hunting, fabricating strange contraptions, and camo. He still thinks we hired him as a comedian.
