Some nuggets from Samuel Chadwick…
“Passion does not compensate for ignorance.”

When some of the “intellectual” young pastors tried to bring a “new gospel” into the Methodist movement, Chadwick opposed them. “Go down to the South Yorkshire coalfields and try your new gospel,” he cried out at the conference, “and see what it will do. Until you have got a gospel that works-shut up! This is not an age for twiddling you thumbs!”
