Intentional Interruption
Posted by chuck maxwell on March 17th, 2009 filed in Chuck's blogOk, so this time I did it intentionally. I took a Sunday off when I didn’t really have to and spent it with my dad and little brother. I was in church though! My brother BJ preached on Psalm 90 which tells me that I’m really only a breath in God’s way of looking at us. How appropriate! Part of being away was an exercise in dealing with my sinful pride. I’m sure the chairs were not straight. The announcements were not clear. The building was not locked. The lights were left on. Surely the church depends on me for survival. But I got no calls about any problem with anything. Part of being away was serving my dad by listening to his informal sermons, being his older pastor son with him at his church, encouraging his younger son pastor. and driving my brother to Little Rock to catch his plane. It was time well spent. Even if I had to force myself to do it.
