Adoption

Part of our 2008 ended today listening in by phone on the adoption proceeding of my brother BJ and his wife Amy’s 2 new kids, Byron(3) and Abby(1). Even on the phone from Texas to Tennessee, it was an emotional time. Hearing a judge ask my brother if he was ready to make these two children his forever was incredible. Hearing the judge order the children’s names changed to Maxwell moved the depths of my heart. I can only imagine what that’s like from BJ and Amy’s experience, to hear someone make another human being your own. Or to have the authority of the judge to actually declare another person to belong to another parent. Gives a new meaning to Galatians 4…But when the completion of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, so that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God. God has made me His own forever!

Happy New Year everyone! Have a blessed 2009.

When I was a kid I happened upon my “adoption papers”. I thought I would be in trouble for finding them (because I found them in a place I maybe shouldn’t have been looking, hehe), but when my parents found me out and that I discovered “treasure”, they gave the papers to me.

To this day I keep them safely tucked in my top dresser drawer.

Adoption is definitely something amazing to celebrate! And, there is a lot of it going on in and around NB these days! Cool!
